I came across the card that reads: "L'employé a décidé de _ _ _ _ _ _ le tribunal du travail."

In the definition underneath, it says "to apply to (a court)" but I think that's meant to say "to appeal to (a court)"

From this, it seems like 'saisir le tribunal' covers all types of requests or applications to a court. Appealing is included in the meaning, but isn't an appeal a certain specific type of request or application?

edit- just 'apply' on its own doesn't seem right to me either
